Hinesville,
Georgia
One
of the first homes built in Hinesville was the Charlton Hines House.
Hinesville was named for Hines, who served as Liberty County's state
senator in the early 1800. In 1940 a large section of northern Liberty
County was purchased by the U.S. government for use as a military base.
Fort Stewart, home of the Army's Third Infantry Division, remains the
largest Liberty County employer and has a major economic impact on this
area.
According to 2000 Census, the City of Hinesville had a population of
30,392 persons. Between 1990 and 2000, the city experienced a population
increase of 40.7%, compared to the state growth during this period of
26.4%.
